Ever see a trend and think, “Oh that looks so cute on them, but I could never pull that off.” That’s how I felt about the half bun look. I wanted to rock it so bad, but I felt like I looked like I was half way through with blow-drying my hair. Not a cute look. But I finally got up the nerve and put my fashion big girl pants on and decided to give it a go. And now it’s one of my favorite looks!
I went with simple black…always a classic. I wore this look to church and was able to feel cute and put together, and comfortable at the same time. Always a good combo.
These are my trusty Lauren Conrad shorts. I love the length, not too short, not too long.

What are your go to black pieces in your closet? Bust em’ out!
The main reason why most people say they love Southern California is the weather. But let me tell you, this 100 degree and over weather we have been having is no joke. It’s shorts weather all the way. But I wanted to change it up a bit. This flannel was only flannel in the print, not in the fabric. It is super thin and light weight so I could wear it this time of year… Well, until about noon. 🙂
I loved the “All American” feel about this outfit. And on a hot day I like to use lightweight accessories like this necklace from Stella and Dot.

How do you beat the heat in your wardrobe?
Don’t you love a great score when you go shopping? This hat was a huge one for me yesterday. I hemmed and hawed thinking “I don’t want to spend $18 dollars, but I really want that hat.” Finally…I gave in and went back to Charming Charlie after I had already left. I am weak. I have no shame. The shopping gods looked down upon me in favor because at the register low and behold it was on sale…for five…bucks. S-C-O-R-E.
I paired it with my favorite black maxi skirt that goes with everything, and a simple gray-t.
I love this dreamcatcher necklace. Its the kind of piece that doesn’t need a lot with it, it can stand on its own. But the hat, with its perfect floppy to stiff ratio, and delightful price tag steals the show for this outfit. Oh floppy hat, you are a new fav. Please excuse me if I wear it every day…

Hello friends! I have the second installment of my oh so fun W Series for you today. This dress is a really fun one. I got it a while ago for a wedding, and it has served me well. I call it my highlighter dress.
I wore it again to the Magic Castle for my birthday, and let me tell you…if you wear this in a sea of women in all black…you will be called on in almost every show. It was awesome!
I paired this with some simple nude heels, and flower earrings. A color this loud doesn’t need major accessories.
Here are some other neon inspired dresses I’m loving!
This Lime Green Dress from Sheinside.com
This crochet coral number from Charlotte Russe
And if you’re into pink, this dress should cover that 😉 find it at Love Culture
Thanks you A Silent Moment Photography!
My good friend and awesome photog Lauren Shelburne recently asked me if I would be interested in doing a fun photo shoot with her at the W hotel in Hollywood. How could I say no? A chance to get dolled up in one of the nicest hotels in town? OK.
Because of the location, I decided some “night out” looks would be best. So, drumroll please…one of my favorite (thrifted!) shift dresses.
I love the embroidery on this dress, and the fabric is very light so it makes it super comfy. Shift dresses can be a little scary at first, because of their boxy shape. But all you have to do is work those legs in some pumps and you’re good to go! 🙂 Since this dress is thrifted and I can’t include a link to it, here are some other shift dresses I love.
The geometric print is amazing on this dress found at boohoo.com
I love this super feminine version from sheinside.com
And this one from Target comes with a simple look, and a price tag that’s easy on the eyes.
I hope you enjoyed the first of my W series looks. More night out looks to come soon!
Thank you to A Silent Moment photography!
I saw this meme the other day that said this:
“Everyone thinks I’m really dressed up, but I know I’m just wearing crotchless yoga pants.”
Yes Maxi dress. YES.
My favorite maxi dress I own is one I bought years ago from a store named Franchesca’s. I’m in love with the multiple fabrics, and of course, the tier. The tier is a beautiful thing, ladies. Not only does it make you look just a little more fancy, it acts as a magical veil for your boobs that allows you to go…dare I say it….bra-less. Geeze I hope gentlemen don’t read my blog.
But really ladies, some days we want to go out in our pajamas. This is like it. But better. You feel free and comfy, but look stylish and chic. Here are some old shots of my favorite tiered maxi. Watch out, some blonde hair comin your way.
I think every girl needs an item in their closet that can be added to the simplest of outfits, to suddenly make the outfit feel put together. This vest is definitely one of those items for me. I mean look close guys…it’s only a black spaghetti top and jeans! But once I put the vest on, it becomes a whole polished look! Along with a necklace that has an elephant on it, well how can you go wrong there?
All of these items I got in small boutique stores around my hometown.
